The Municipality of Guimbal, headed by Mayor Christine S. Garin, celebrated the 12th Bantayan Festival with interesting events that showcased Guimbal’s rich history, heritage and tradition.
A cultural presentation through re-enactment of Moro Raid, performed by Tribu Bunabi, narrated the history of the town of Guimbal held last April 10 at Bantayan Beach Resort.
The beach resort is situated beside the the 17th century Moro Watchtower used as a look-out to forewarn the natives and to enable them to defend Guimbal from marauding Moro pirate raiders who captured Guimbalanons and sold them at slave markets in Kolambogan, Mindanao during the Spanish colonial era.
